So this is it! The last blog......:( Y'all have been a WONDERFUL class! So much fun in such a small amount of time. You guys are awesome!!!! So for our last blog, I thought it would be fitting for everyone to share with each other your favorite memory (assignment, activity, person(s), lecture, etc) of this class. Whether it was a topic that hit home, or a concept/theory that you related to, an activity that resonates in your mind, or something someone said or did in class, let us know. Reflection is an important part of learning.
I'll start. My favorite memory of this semester was when we were doing our Intercultural Communication exercise with the class broken down into 3 distinct cultures interacting with each other. The "touchy feely huggers" were doing a group hug and Sam stood up to join in the hug when Allison quickly called him out and reminded him that he was not part of that culture and to sit back down. Hilarious!!! A perfect example of acculturation and how our cultural values change when being exposed to others.
I'm really gonna miss you guys.

Without a doubt this was my favorite class of the semester as well. My favorite memory would have to be when we all played each others games and got to see all the different games. Not only was it just a game, but also an opening into someones life. For my favorite part, it was really funny when we played my game and Xoali had to wear the gangster and beach bum attire.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that my favorite part was the game of the 3 different groups. Ricky cracked me up with being so submissive to the women folk. Everyone took their roles on perfectly. I have had so much fun in this class and I am thankful that I had such a great class and wonderful teacher for my last semester!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory from 1318 this semester was when we were reviewing for quiz two playing Pictionary and someone from the PC side of the class room* jokingly named the apple side “TEAM 2nd PLACE” and as we all know “TEAM 2nd Place” won the game and received the full 10 points extra Credit. Boy am I thankful for those extra point as well, I think they saved my bacon for quiz two. *I say class room sparingly as a closet would be more fitting (LOL).
ReplyDeleteI also remember the first day of class and Professor Wilking stated something to the effect that we would have 25 students in the class, well I immediately started counting seats and thought to myself “OMG, their is no way” well what ever happened I am thankful that 25 people were not squeezed in there.
Well either way this class has been a memorable one and should any care to hit me on Face Book.
I must say this was one of the best classes I've been in all year. Had a lot of fun meeting all the cool peps. My favorite part of the class was the game playing. When Karin and myself were on the same team playing Bea's game. Everytime she would get an answer right she whould start celebrate and get really exicited. I think that was really cool. I hope everyone has a good xmas and good new year. Take care and we'll be seeing you.
ReplyDeleteO sorry the last post was from Jeff.
ReplyDeleteI just want to put my two cents on that issue on that particulllar day, I only got up to give her a hug b/c she was booed by my group. I felt pressured to get up and give her a hug.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary, my most favoriate moment of the class was playing the games of the self concept. I thought it was cool to learn about themselves along with people learning about me. Playing Twistapher.
My favorite part of this class was definitely the self-concept games. It was very interesting to see everyone’s games and their life stories. I especially liked how everyone put their own personal style in their game boards, pieces, and the rules.
ReplyDeleteI’m really glad I took this class and I learned a lot more than I anticipated. Thanks
I love Karin's ultra competitive spirit during the self-concept games. I loved Jeff's comment on how "amazing" he is all the time and how he refused to be wrong even though he was... typical male. :) I also liked the Personality Tests and the Love Tests. Those were really cool and scarily accurate. I love that this class was able to be so open and fun! I'm gonna miss this class!!

I have to say this is the best class which I take in this semester. The most enjoyable part in my opinion is the self concept game. I am really enjoy about design rules of game and that part bring me a good chance to repractise it again. Additional, I really learn a lot which cross culture and very creative thinking. Even I still have some deterrent to understand everybody's talking, but I am still enjoy the atmosphere which is open mind and joyful.
ReplyDeleteThanks teacher, thanks everybody! Wish you have a happy new year!
Great class, I was bummed when I had to miss due to work. This class has been zero stress and I learned so much more than I expected to coming in. I very recently dealt with the breaking up divorce issue so seeing all those stages and statistics and why people act the way they do in relationships was crazy. I remember on one lecture day just sitting there thinking "Exactly! That's it!". I'm gonna agree that the self concept games were awesome. Got to learn a lot about people in a very short amount of time. I love any class that I get to watch Dumb and Dumber as an assignment! It's been great thank you for everything and I wish everyone well in everything they do in the future. Take care.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of class was the self concept game. At first I didn't really like the idea of having to make a game about myself but after doing it and playing everyone else's game I really learned a lot about everyone. Everyones game was different and incorporated things about themselves that you probably wouldn't have learned about them if we didn't make the games. It was also fun playing the games everyone came up with.
ReplyDeleteI had fun doing the Intercultural Communication exercise. I was part of the group where men are submissive to women and I couldn’t talk unless spoken to, which really made my job easy. Being a psychology major, it was really interesting to me seeing how everybody was able to change their behavior according to their roles. It reminded me of a famous study called the Stanford Prison Experiment. In the experiment a group of college students were assigned to be in either a group of prisoners or a group of prison guards; they were put in a makeshift prison and told to act as if the prison was real. They had to end the experiment after about a week because, despite the fact that it wasn’t real, it was causing the prisoners real suffering. Obviously our exercise didn’t go so far, but it was still interesting seeing everybody’s behavior transform.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite moment of the entire class was when we played each others games. I thought the twister game by chris was hilarious and very creative I had the most fun with that game. I also liked when we reviewed for the quiz and the girls on the other team were all like ya your "team second place" and then "team second place" ended up winning. I also enjoyed the movie analysis because it was like a review of what we learned throughout the entire semester which was good cause It help me refresh my memory on the different personality types and love styles etc :) -ivan
ReplyDeleteany one else still feeding the fish. I do. LOL
